What is the difference between LLC and C Corp.
which is better to open out of the two if we are in EAD.

Basically for small set ups (for example you and/or your spouse) you probably want to stick to LLC or S-Corp. S-corp has huge tax advantage in the sense that you can take a small W-2 salary from the firm (to minimize your payroll witholding taxes for social security and medicare) and take a large "partnership income" reported on a K-1, which is taxed at ordinary income tax rate, and is not subject to payroll withholding taxes for social security and medicare. If you think about it, by not taking the income fully on W-2, you will be saving around 15% in withholding taxes.

Folks,
I know this has been discussed in the past on this and other message boards but I wanted to hear some more opinions about it. What is the value of green card to you?
I know different ppl have different reasons like ability to switch jobs, ability to travel freely, ability to have a job for spouse etc. All said and done how many of you would like to go back to your home countries in the next 5-6 years? I know a lot of people have issues such as aging parents back home or they simply don't see themselves living in a foreign land forever. I guess my question is what percentage of ppl aspiring for a GC view it as a convenience vs percentage of ppl who actually see it as a path to settling down in US for good.

We are not changing laws, we are petitioning. We are educatiing the various sections of American society, lawmakers, fourth estate.
We are asking for the rationale for collecting the Social Security Tax and Medicare, when you don't get its benefits. Pure and simple. You see, we are resident aliens NOT LPRs (Legal Permanent Residents a.k.a Green Card Holders).Benefits for which you are paying social security tax, you are not eligible while on H1. So, please don't use extreme words. When illegal aliens can demonstrate and influence law makers, what is wrong for legal aliends in writing to lawmakers, newspapers etc.
If you are laid of, will you get unemployment benefits? Job retraining. No, You are out of status. So, is it incorrect to ask for this? I am not talking about Income Taxes. Go and look at my posts. I am a strong advocate of core IV goals.

Thank you to all those who attended the first meeting! I am attaching the excel file for you to complete. I have included instructions in the file itself but let me know if you have questions. Please fill all the columns against your name.
Our next meeting will be on Thursday at 7pm PST. The tasks for our next meeting are as follows:

2) Brainstorm about possible locations where we can put up a booth to register new members � someone had proposed contacting student body at UCI, we can discuss this.
3) Take a look at the IV power point presentation and propose how we can tailor it to our needs. We need a presentation to show to our house reps when we visit them (This will be found on the resources page)
4) Go through the IV template for business cards along with instructions to modify the template and to print the business cards. (this will be found on resources page)

The bill being discussed in the senate if passed is going to be very detrimental to people that are stuck in the labor backlog centers. They wil be forced to redo their labor with the new point based system. That is not fair at all.

Since it passed during the special session, everything had to be cleared out of the Congress quickly, I guess. USCIS must be busy to get ready for processing and collecting increased fees from these employers soon. The new filing fees will be a huge amount, especially when they decide to file a premium processing request. Can you imagine how much these employers will lose for a single case if the case is filed on premium and denied!! Ouch!
* The new fees will take effect tomorrow since the President is scheduled to sign it into law at 11:00 a.m. EST, tomorrow. "

agree..... these new filing fees is a huge amount.... it would have been so good to let immigration lawyers make all this money..... better off.... senate should have passed a bill that immigration lawyers r doing public service & their fee should be increased by $2000....

If we start the fasting and rallying the American people will view it as nothing but "Countries of the East" sending their millions to other countries to show their strength in numbers.
Another thing. There was a suggestion of starting "free coaching classes" for kids as a volunteer service. Excellent Idea IFFF and ONLY IFFF we are doing it With the actual intent of providing education to the under-priviledged. Otherwise, once immigrants' voices are heard, and relief comes through, guess what will happen? These coaching classes will stop dead in their tracks. This will attract NEGATIVE publicity sending a message that the so called "Volunteer Effort" was nothing but a PUBLICITY STUNT.
one way to demonstrate our worth is for our employers to come out and speak loudly. i am trying to get my employer to do exactly this. but we need new ideas.

I agree GC makes a difference. If anyone as EAD thats as good as GC subject to your primany job not changing. So why not do side -business on EAD while your primary job is ON. Take it easy at job, dont overwork because without GC rarely people get promoted, if they are not extra-ordinary!
Going to XYZ place because of no GC does not make sense. If you have potential you can use it here on EAD not necessarily in another country!

Pardon my intrusion here! I searched various forums but I couldn't get any solid threads on visa number because it is so common term the search always yields wrong threads! so can some one tell me..what is a visa number after filing 485? is it same a A # ? or is there another number besides A#? Do we see it on 485 reciept? if not how do I find out? I

Eg: COnsider your approval and mine..We filed for 485 in 2004.. These cases are preadjudicated and just waiting for Visa number to become avilable..Once the july bulletein came into effect(or according to rumor even before) they assigned visa numbers to all pre approved cases that were pending...AGAIN USCIS DID NOT ASSIGN VISA NUMBERS TO CASES FILED IN JUNE
