Guys, don't be disappointed about the Cornyn amendment failing! Here's why:
Therefore, even people like Clinton voted no, because if the Cornyn amendment had passed it would have denied them the visibility and publicity that a well-organized and publicized bill would generate. Clinton has spoken in our favor before, and I think that she voted nay now in order to later be part of a more visible (and politically-rewarding) solution for us.

Many IVers still wrongly believe that Hillary, Obama or Democrats are supportes of our cause. Let us get over this misconception as soon as possible to avoid any future disappointments. I dont mind getting Red Dots, But please, for god's sake. Stop doing this fruitless campaign. Do you guys think Giving a Clock or sending flowers solved earlier problems. Enough of this Gandhiian ways. This country is not good for people like Gandhi. May be Flower campaign got noticed and created a whole new experience for the USCIS, but i dont think it really helped them do anything in our favor. Already, folks here are wasting their money, year after year, on their EADs and APs for them and their family. Just think for a second guys, It costs us 1000 $ to maintain status on AOS and visit our family and this is going on indefinitely for our years now. USCIS/Congress does not want to do anything about this, They are happy to get the revenue. Even if you think a minimum of 200,000 people spending 1000 $ an year, it is 200,000,000 $. Iam not even considering the amount they spent on other things like H1B extension, H4s..... Just think about the Dollars they are making on this Green Card SCAM. Accept it or not, it is indirectly affecting our lives, even though, GC is not really important for lot of folks. Iam one such person, I have a good client and a decent employer and iam with the same folks for 9 years and they are happy extending my H1b at their cost. But still, this whole GC game, is sometimes disturbing. They are playing with our emotions and our loved ones. So, GUYS we need to take a bigger and bolder step. To me, Calling people, sending flowers and letters explaining the situation makes no sense. Do you think, those guys dont really know about our situation. Let us a make a bold move. We are 70,000 folks just here in ImmigrationVoice. Let us compile a letter,that pushes USCIS/Congress on improving the condition. As long as they get those EXTRA Dollars, i dont think anything is going to happen. Even if they remove the provision to apply for GC while on H1B, it is good for us, for we will know that in advance and can plan on shaping our future better, instead of this false promise and emotional torture. I think even AILA or other Lawyers are useless. They dont want to do anything for us. All they do is, interpret the LAW , and explain us in the way we can understand. They dont take steps to fight for the justice. All they care is the money. So let us make our point clear to USCIS, we dont want to waste money on EADs and APs and H1B extensions. To me, it should be free of cost, since it is their problem that they dont work efficiently. Why should we pay 1000s of dollars for their inefficiency. let us all 70,000 work together in sending a letter to USCIS or Congress that We are not willing to spend any more money on the GC knowing that we are not going to get it anyway. Unless, we do something like this, the real impact of our situation will never get noticed. Again, our main aim should be to let them know about our situation and not just that IV is a group that will send flowers, to express its presence.
To do what you suggest, we have to organize ourselves first. Opening threads and debating and then burying them deep does not help. If we have 30K IV members + 40 K families and friends 70K letters will definitely make a difference.

i thought it meant that you had to wait 4 months after your priority date is current to have any expectation of adjudication... no?

I think the longest wait I have ever seen is of my friend who entered the US in 1992. He did his Bachelors, then did some work on OPT, then did his Masters, then did some work on OPT, then tried to do PhD but couldnt finish it in , got a fulltime offer, worked on H1 then on extensions and finally got laid off in 2008 before his 485 could be filed. He had enough of it and finally said goodbye to US and left :) So that's 16yrs!

I got my 485 approved yesterday. I applied for my 485 this June 13th I got my approval yesterday I am very happy about it. I hope everyone who applied will get their approval soon. Basically I am in marketing I want to get trained in java to get into IT field. Please let me know you�re thought is this a good move.

Landed on 03/1997 on H1B. Didn't file for GC until 2003 as plan was to work for 2-3 years, get into an MBA program, and then go back.
MBA resulted in loans of $120K which in turn meant spending some more time in the US which resulted in buying a house which resulted in even bigger loan.
Now living the American "dream" on EAD.
You must be earning more than the debts you have from MBA per year. With that you should have paid the loans.

GCTest and et al if you have really raised 600 $ talk to good lawyer to sure the hell out of USCIS for its un accountability. This EB3 - EB3 rift is not going to help anyone but only USCIS. Take a chill pill and think carefully who has screwed us most -- IT IS USCIS. If you sue USCIS for unaccountability, changing rules at will and worst of all racial discrimination or new term for country based discrimination -- it is history waiting to happen.
There is no value or point in creating Eb3 - Eb2 rift. No category is better than either - all are equally and royally screwed by USCIS.

Unless india address issues of Population Growth ( now it is hard to walk in many places in big cities), Morality of the Peoples (govt can not do any thing about this, we as a people always take shortcuts aslong as it does not affect us personally !!!) Broken Judicial system ( Recent statement of supreme court tells they have enough court case to deal per judge for next few decades !!) Purity of air, water,milk, Increasing corruption and detoriation in quality of education (because of priviatization we have engineering , pharmacy and other technical education colleges in every village, 95% of them dont have faculty, labs etc and only care for profit, you can graduate as long as you pay fee for admission and pay fee for their annual due) (that is why our 90% of engineers are UNEMLOYABLE) THERE ARE many other issues to list here but all we know
If you go to our home country for short visit, you will probably like it , if you stay there more than three months and try to settle there again, you will start comparing all above to US and might feel that you made wrong choice of abondoning your GC process
Also in money we make in some big cities in our home country we can not buy a decent home to live in as real estate prices are so INFLATED and there is no body which regulates real estate in India. Prices double evey day. I dont know how local middle class which hardly make 2-3 lac per year can afford such properties.
After living long time in other country, it will be hard to adjust with people there. You will always face morality issue, duplicity in the people (what they talk and what they act, it is hard to trust) also artificial and selfish nature of so called social relations in home country (of which all we are proud of some how ) I find people and social relation here more frank and trust worthy (they are more open and close to reality) then our social structure where evry one try to take advantage of other some how under the so called social relations
So think three time about all these issue of long term before you try to abondon your GC process. All these isssues you will be facing in our home country no matter how much money you make. On long term your choice might hurt you. If you are fed up with immigration issues here try to open up other avenues for you along with this country.

There are issues in india , but i have seen many people going back , and settling without any problems. The choice to move is more personal , then what could be discussed here ..
I was in India recently for a 2 months vacation, and some work from our Indian office,. First few days were tough , lot of dust , traffic , pollution, But after 2 weeks i was loving it the old way .. and when i was flying back i realized I love Delhi .
If you own a house in the major cities ( ie lot of jobs and business opportunities) then going back makes sense. But if you belong to a small city , and have to move to a bigger city anyway, then living here makes more sense.
The reality (which is bad) is that if you have money in india , your life style is much better than what u have in US (dont forget , even earning 100K, doesn't really make u rich here , Honda and Toyota are poor people's car in US.. I have seen very few EB applicants driving a BMV,Bentley)
When i was in India, i went to best hotels for food (2000Rs buffets) virtually every week.,just went to NY once for a 200$ buffet, in 6 years.
So everyone has to take a personal decision, based on personal factors..

I am happy for following things in life:
1) I still have a job, or atleast pay.
2) I have an EAD, those in PERM, 140, do not have that option.
3) I am better placed than those seeking immigration as brothers and sisters of US citizens :-d or as married children of US citizens.
I am not happy about:
1) Don't have the plastic that says, I can stay on even if I don't have a job.
2) Those from other countries getting "lottery" visa instead of hard work.
Who said "hard work" pays off? It just takes LUCK in life for things to fall in place. From tomorrow, I am just going to buy lottery and do NO work.

Just wanted to let you know that I received my refund yesterday. My wife and I filed a joint return. We both have SSN's. Just relax folks if you filed your taxes you will receive the refund. I had hoped the money could have been put to better use but oh well the politicians know better.

I am glad to see sked A here. I have been following this forum for a long time now and there is nothing for healthcare prof though the discussions were very helpful. As I can see it, the july VB put benefits on those going through AOS but as a result those whom I know who are scheduled for interview in their home countries in AUg. was cancelled.
That is sad news!! I can just imagine how they feel, after waiting so long! Anyway lets hope something positive happens for the Oct bulletin.
A hospital I know is SO short of nurses they are offering them GREAT incentives to take on extra shifts. I mean it is an ACUTE shortage.
