My friend John Lamb in Nashville has had this idea for a while. It sounds a little nuts at first, but as John notes - Giving American citizens the power of granting legal status to their foreign-born friends is an idea I've had for a while but not trumpeted very much. Hi,
I have applied for I-140 in Oct 2006 and hvn't recd I-140 yet (Nebraska)
My 485/EAD checks got encashed today. My questions is do I need I-140 before FP or EAD card.

Since H1 is for 6 years, you can extend for another year without filing I-140. You can apply for renewal within 180 days before expiry.

I have applied for cos from h1 to h4.
it is still pending. Am I eligible to renew my drivers license in PA based on pending cos to h4 receipt notice.

With so many people looking for work, why are so many jobs going begging? The short answer: A scarcity of candidates with the skills, or combinations of skills and credentials, that employers want.
Unemployment among tech workers stands at about 4.9%, far lower than the 9.6% overall U.S. jobless rate

Hello Everybody. I am new to IV. Recently I have filed my wife's I-485 (06/28) after my I-485 approval on 06/18. My lawyer said that he has filed it by using the "Follow to join" benefits. He is saying that he cannot guarantee that USCIS will accept the I-485 since my I-485 is already approved. He said that we just have to wait and see until the receipt notice is issued.
Is anybody else in similar situation? Also does any one know what kind of documentation and cover letter needs to be included for this kind of case? I have asked him if he has included the I-485 approval notice and he said "No".

Hi, i have filed I-140 3 months back and it is still in process. Am I able to file I-485 in parallel to the I-140 now.

It should be okay. I sent to my attorney as well as my HR. I do not see any issues as long as it is just GC copy.
My attorney asked me to send a copy of my GC to make sure the info is correctly printed. Is it ok send it to them?

I am self filing my EAD/AP: Following documents I have attached to both EAD and AP.
1. Copy of previous EAD/AP (both front and back)
2. Copy of 485 receipt notice
3. Copy of DL/ passport, Visa stamp
4. Copy of I-94 front and back
5. Letter stating why AP is required
6. Letter requesting fee exemption due to filing under new fee structure.
Can I send all applications in one packet? Or should I send them in separate packets?

Here's another article discussing the embarrassment that is CNN's Lou Dobbs Tonight. I don't need to elaborate on that, but the more interesting part of this article is a discussion of why CNN is so reluctant to fire him. I have filed an appeal for a rejected I 140, which is I 290B.
I also filed a new I 140 using the same labor (EB3, august 2003)
Now I am seeing constant changes to LUDs to both status online, but the text doesnt change.
I 290B had LUD change for 3 days, and I 140 had LUD change for 3 days too.
I am confused now... does this mean they are working on the case?
constant changes like these furstrate me when there is no message or text change in status.
Can the gurus here predict according to similar trends? what can I expect?

I have a question on visitor visa, please tell me is this legally okay or not
My parents got vistor visa (B1/B2) and planning to visit me,
my sister also got a visitor visa (B1/B2) through a company some time back. But she never visited US and later moved to another company.
All are 10 years multiple entry visas.
Is it okay that sister comes along with my parents? Is there a difference between company applied visitor visa and visitor visa that I sponsered.
