I am wondering how do I help / sponsor to obtain US tourist visa (B2) for my young (say below 10 years) niece and nephew in India. Their parents (my brother and his wife) will not travel with them so they do not need a visa.
What is the procedure? What are the documents that I need to send from the US? What are the documents my brother in India need to provide?

As pappu stated in the first post of the above referenced thread - some of the ongoing efforts include finding how many IV members would get benefit from such a provision and get basic details such as username/Priority Date of impacted members. Future action items might include drafting documents and letters to support this provision. There maybe actions such as sending emails etc. However we would not be able to open a public action item unless we can have thousands of our members willing to participate in a grassroots action item. This survey intends to understand the needs of our membership for this provision and collect grassroots information.
The fact is we have a dedicated group of volunteers (and we need more) who have been trying their best to spread the message about this initiative so that a strong grass-roots support can be created leading up to launch of the public action items. So far we have around 1100 people who have responded. Based on quick calculations carried out using PERM data, it is estimated that there are at least 60K-70K EB applicants waiting to file I-485/EAD/AP (this is a very conservative estimate..the actual number could be much more). Grass-roots initiatives require time and patience and we request maximum number of impacted folks to participate actively.

what is the best bet after I-140 denied?
I mean does it make any difference far as 485/EAD if the employer does appeal or MTR?
I mean is there a possibility of keeping the 485 and EAD alive after I-140 denied if employer appeal or Motion to Reopen?

My I-140 & I-485 applications had been transferred to VSC for receipting and later my I-485 was transferred back to TSC. But my I-40 has been pending at VSC for close to 6 months with no signs of any processing. VSC seems to be still processing Apr 06 applications while TSC has been processing I-140 under 6 months. Realistically my application should have stayed at TSC, but was transferred to VSC due to receipting delays and balance the workload. But now my application is stuck at VSC. For no fault of mine, my applications ended up in VSC. There is no signs of PP starting anytime soon. Can I lodge a complain to ombudsman in this regard? Will they be able to help me? Who do I contact and where can I find all the information to lodge a complaint?

My friend John Lamb in Nashville blogs today about ICE's Hutto detention center where whole families are jailed while awaiting deportation. hi all,
I've found myself in abit of a predicament. My application for H1B extension is still pending (filed in September) and all I have right now is a Notice of Action from the immigration department.
While waiting, I have been laid off this week... I intend to return back to my home country before my last day (Dec 31).
My question is: Would I be able to make a round trip? That is to say, come back to the US on a tourist visa a week after I got home? I need to come back to sell what I own here and settle other things.
A friend told me that it is better to overstay for however long (maybe an extra week, I don't plan on too long) I need to get my things in order than try to take the chance of coming back. What do you think?
I appreciate any advice you can give.

I applied for 485 under july-07 bulletin and received my AP and EAD though I have not used it yet.
Now I got married and my wife is USC. I would like to apply for 485 based on marriage.
So before applying for marriage based 485, do I need to revoke employment based 485 application or I can have two 485 applications (from two different categories) at the same time? Do I need to revoke AP and EAD also received from employment based?
Also I assume that I need to maintain same A# (got from emploment based application) for marriage based 485 application also.
If I don't need to revoke employment based AP and EAD, then can I use these while my family based 485 application is pending?

I had applied for GC through my husband s employer for EB1 category. Recently USCIS websites has updated on its site regarding our case that I485 has been approved but I765 has been denied. Currently we are on L1/L2 visa. Has anyone faced such a situation? And what does this signify?

Tough talk from the Senate Majority Leader. Some, including my good friend Tamar Jacoby, think this is a really bad idea. I'm not so sure. I think fear of losing the Hispanic vote for a generation or more and the sudden urgency of the situation created by the Arizona fiasco could make responsible Republicans at least seek to block a filibuster and allow for a majority vote (as seems likely with financial regulatory reform). But Tamar is right that we'll get a better bill if pro-business Republicans play a role since some of the overreaching protectionist efforts of the unions...
