Just asking out of curiosity because when an illegal alien lives and possibly runs from cops from place to place for a period of time then they are qualifed for a green card and eventually citizenship.
Why would they become nice to them after a certain period of time? It is illegal.
because, you are a f*uking troll and you are here illegally.

Family based green cards take a longish amount of time 5 yrs or so and your wife cannot enter US in that period. So if you plan to live with your wife in the US in the mean time here is an idea you can consider:
Give up your green card, then come back with H1 and your wife on H4 then reapply - you might get your green cards in 3-4 months because your 140 has an older priority date.
Just an idea... no legal basis. All the best!

Please help me decide.
I have Bsc (3yrs) and MCM(3yrs) (MASTER OF COMPUTER MANAGEMENT) from india .
Degrees evaluation says "UNITED STATES DEGREE EQUIVALENT BACHELOR OF SCIENCE DEGREE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE"
6 yrs + experience prior to joining the current recruiter.
Am I eligible for EB2 category, as my employer says, EB2 be most likely would be rejected/denied and its a big risk
Let me know your inputs.
Thanks
Pramod

Hi,
I am Vijay Vellabati, finished MS in Dec-06 and I got a job in Jul.
I am in my OPT(Optional Practical training). I did not get to file for my H1-B.
Can my company apply for Green card for me right now.
Because I need to keep my status, my OPT expires in Dec-07.
If anyone can get back to me, I would appreciate that.
Thank you.
Vijay Vellabati

Yes, green card is for future employment, your employer can apply for your greencard!!
But usually the greencard process takes so long that it is nearly impossible to get it in a year (the time you have in OPT) so the safe bet is to apply h1b otherwise in US-Masters quota if you have one. And take it from there.

Any idea who represented skilled workers in the meeting that happened. I don't see Immigration Voice in the list.
Is IV core looking into how they can how they can be part of such meetings in future. If we are not represented, there wont be anything for us even in the comprehensive immigration reform. We employees cant rely on employers to represent us. That why we are where we are today.

I am traveling to India after long time. The airline reservation requires me to provide my green card number. Can anyone tell me what that is? Is it A# number?
I tried entering the 9 digits of A# number on the airline website without a success, what is a right syntax?
AXXX-XXX-XXX or XXXXXXXXX without using -
I dont want to submit wrong information.
Also, is it possible to provide this information at Check-In and not to worry about it now?
If anyone has done this before then let me know, any help is appreciated.

If I resign, If my employer cancels my I-140 and use that labor and PD for another person within next 3 months. Can I still use the same priority date if I reach to the I-140 stage in the next 9 months at the new employer?
I have a nice offer from a reputed company but am worried that my current employer (small-time consulting company) would revoke 140 for the purpose of substituting it...Otherwise they have no problem with me but then it is a business for them.
I asked them if it is not illegal/immoral to do that. Their reply was that it is illegal only to sell it and not if it is given away as a favor and they seem to have folks waiting on the sidelines...
I am waiting for that law to ban it but it does not seem to happen...
* Moving question to new thread since the question got buried by subsequent posts
TIA!

Hello.
I will be needing a new re-entry permit(i-131) while renewing my green card and i was wondering if it was possible.
I am going to study back in my home country for 4yrs.
first 2yrs(2010-2012), i am going back with reentry permit.
after 2yrs(2012), i am going back to USA for 6months to renew my green card(going to expire in 2012) and reapply for a new reentry permit.
If i wont have time to get my new green card, i am possibly thinking of going back to my home country for 5 months and going back to USA for 2 wks (to retain green card status) and again, going back to my homecountry for 3 months.
Would going back and forth to my homecountry and USA will affect me from losing my green card?
Any advise will be helpful. Thank you!

Dr. Mirza Tihir is a true angel to the refugees he serves in his town of Syracuse, New York. And he certainly can relate to their story as he too is a refugee. Dr. Tihic lost more than 60 relatives to the "ethnic cleansing" in Serbia in the 1990s including his grandfather. He is now program manager of entreprenuerial practice at the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. His job now involves creating programs focused on helping refugees get the skills they need to find jobs and succeed in their new country. Recently, he joined with friends to start...

An old, old friend who is a major voice in conservative politics in this country agreed with this when we spoke about the election today (he was obviously a lot happier today than me). He also agreed that if the GOP needs to understand that the voter anger over economy gave them a short term opportunity to retake power, but that maintaining that power when things get back to normal will depend on broadening their coalition to include Hispanics. Anyway, here's the news from National Council of La Raza: Latino voters proved pivotal in several hotly contested midterm elections, including...

The American Immigration Council weighs in on the importance of the subject: The American Immigration Councils Legal Action Center commends Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, for convening todays hearing on Improving Efficiency and Ensuring Justice in the Immigration Court System. Immigration courts have long suffered from crushing backlogs that can delay the scheduling of hearings for years at a time. Additionally, immigrants who appear before these courts enjoy fewer legal protections than most Americans expect from any fair system of justice. With the dramatic and rapid escalation of immigration enforcement policies and resources, too little...
